Politika EU prema zemljama Zapadnog Balkana
Po riječima poljskog novinara i disidenta Adama Michnika godina 1989 bila je čudesna godina u Evropi. Mirna revolucija tih godina bila je čudo koju su izazvali ljudi u Centralnoj i Istočnoj Evropi. Teško da je iko (a sigurno niko od političara zapadnoevropskih zemalja) mogao predvidjeti da će narodni pokret, koji je djelovao u nekoliko zemalja istovremeno, za samo nekoliko mjeseci moći da sruši socijalistički režim i da natjera moćni Sovjetski savez da se povuče iza granica Rusije.
